Leadership
Supertype is led by three-time software entrepreneur Samuel Chan, who also run Indonesia’s most acclaimed data science education center, providing training to more than 500 companies and institutions across the region. He has built a Slack chatbot, a marketing technology SaaS, natural language AI toolkits, a counter-fraud software, and plenty of open source tools. In between building software teams, Samuel actively consult for companies in the mobile publishing and marketing analytics space, spending the last 11 years living in Singapore, China, Japan and Indonesia for his work with TWP Dai Nippon (TYO: 7912), gumi Inc (TYO:3903), DianDian (600634:SH), goGame SEGA (TYO: 6460), Emtek (IDX: EMTK) and Adaro (IDX: ADRO).
In addition to his interest in software entrepreneurship, Samuel is also an avid open source contributor, having ranked #1 in Indonesia on StackOverflow’s R and Python topics (top 2% worldwide) between 2017 and 2022 (110 badges, 1.9+ million reach), and receives certification from RStudio (2019), Microsoft (2018), MongoDB (2014), John Hopkins University via Coursera (2017), Stanford University Online via Coursera (2016), UC San Diego via Coursera (2019). He is a certified programming educator, and a regular guest lecturer in Singapore and Indonesia on the subject of machine learning, fraud detection, computer vision and software development.

Nick Gibbons
Nick is the co-founder at Creadits, a design subscription platform with 5 offices across 4 continents and count some of the world's largest advertisers as clients (Spotify, Udemy etc).
Nick installs client-centricity at the heart of the organization.
Nayoko Wicaksono
A serial entrepreneur with a decade of experience in building companies, angel investing, and advising startups in the Google Developer Group, Nayoko kickstarted the Plug and Play Accelerator in Indonesia in 2016 and later co-founded Algoritma, a data science school.
Nayoko brings business development expertise to the table and help scale Supertype's social mission.
Samuel Chan
Primary responsibility is to create a self-sustaining organization where engineers and data scientists are product owners.
Co-lead the ML (machine learning) engineering team on API micro-services, web app development and automation engineering.
Vincentius Christopher Calvin
A certified TensorFlow Developer and Apple Developer Academy scholarship recipient, Vincentius majors in Business Mathematics and leads the deep learning research team in Supertype, working on projects from computer vision to natural language processing. He has a penchant for developing user-centric products (2 apps on the App Store), and count several competitions (won 9th place on a regional competition by Shopee Code League 2021, and a finalist in Microsoft APAC Hackathon 2020) among his experience.
Outside of work, he routinely beats everyone else in rapid chess.
Stane Aurelius
A MLOps specialist keen on leveraging the use of cloud computing services to deploy, manage, and monitor machine learning models.
Being part of the ML engineering team, Stane is trusted with the responsibility of streamlining our model pipelines and taking developed models into production.
Geraldus Wilsen
Wilsen majors in data science and have a deep interest in the field of machine learning. He came in 4th on the National Data Science tournament in 2022 by building an e-commerce optimization tool that helps merchant create better product shots on their e-commerce stores.
Wilsen is our in-house specialist in telling rich, captivating stories using data visualization tools like Tableau and Looker.
Aurellia Christie
Specializing in Actuarial Mathematics, Aurellia is well versed in the application of rigorous mathematical models to seemingly complex problems in the risk and economic domains. She is a speaker in R-Ladies, an organization that promote gender diversity in the R community.
She works with Supertype's clients on machine learning scenarios, but her versatility in engineering also puts her in position of leadership for productionizing data science models.
Gerald Bryan
A Business Mathematics graduate and a Microsoft Certified Data Analyst associate, Gerald is competent with R-based and Python-based data science workflows, and frequently uses his adeptness in ML theory to help clients extract actionable insights from their data.
He works with Supertype's research team on topics ranging from text processing to time series and forecasting.
Timotius Marselo
Timotius is a voracious learner from his days studying and living in China. He returned to Indonesia with the goal of seriously pursuing data science, investing his time across mathematics, NLP (natural language processing) and machine learning along the way.
While in Supertype's Collective Development Program, his tenacity and work ethic has seen him initiating numerous individual projects, as well as working with more senior members of the team on problems in the field of predictive maintenance and forecasting.
Christeigen Theodore Suhalim
Christeigen hails from a background in Engineering and Data Science, placing 3rd place in the National Data Science Tournament (Turnamen Sains Data Nasional 2022) with a project that features the use of convolutional neural network to optimize images used in e-commerce product listing.
4 months later, Christeigen achieved a 2nd place finish at the Datameka Singapore machine learning competition out of 215 participants.
Christeigen's previous work experience includes the design and construction of OLAP and OLTP database systems and deployment of real-time analytical dashboards.
Vito Ghifari
Majors in computer science with a strong focus in AI, machine learning, and deep learning. Helps maintain our Large Language Model (llm tutorials) education series on GitHub and a contributor to NusaCrowd, an open-source public repository for NLP in Indonesian and other indigenous languages.
Outside of being a willing open source contributor, Vito is also a 1st place winner of the Data Mining Gemastik XV, a competition by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

We believe in a broad, lateral skill set. We don’t put ourselves in boxes (“Mobile UX designer”, or “Database developer”, or “Backend developer”), because people are so much more interesting that that. We don’t hire from a checklist.
