A total re-engineering of Supertype

Supertype.ai, the site was last updated back in 2020. It was a beautiful site, and did what it needed to do. But it was due for a re-engineering, where we could take the learnings from the past 5 years, and build a new architecture that could scale with the growth of the site while remaining lightning fast.

Our focus was on three main areas:

1. Searchability: We wanted to make it easier for users to find the content they were looking for. Supertype employs the best AI engineers and analytics developers we can find, and we wanted their work to be easily accessible and discoverable.
2. Performance: We wanted to make the site faster. By a lot. We wanted to make it so that the site could handle more users, more content, and more features without slowing down.
3. User Experience: We wanted to make the site more intuitive and easier to use. The old supertype.ai has started to show its age, and a reimagining of the site was in order.

The most searchable company site on the internet

We are big believers in the power of search, and we taught others how to build great search engines that leverage AI. In fact, in our flagship product: Sectors, we have built a search engine that is so powerful, it can search through tens of thousands of documents in milliseconds. We have also built incredible search products for companies like BPK RI (Indonesia's Supreme Audit, or the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia), powered by best-in-class vector search technology and LLM (Language Model) engineering.

With the new Supertype, we have brought that knowledge and experience to bear. The new Supertype features a powerful search engine that can search through all of our content in milliseconds, and take you directly to the right section, of the right page, anywhere on the site.

Performance that scales

The new Supertype is built on a modern architecture that is designed to scale with the growth of the site. A series of decisions were made to ensure that the site caches content intelligently, routes traffic efficiently, and serves content through a CDN that is optimized for speed. None of this is visible to the user, but the result is a site that is reliably fast, no matter how many users are on it at once.

A more thoughtful user experience

The biggest change in the new Supertype is the user experience. We have rethought every aspect of the site, from the navigation to the typography, to make it more intuitive, responsive and easier to use. We have added a light and dark mode toggle and ensure all content is accessible regardless of the user's theme preference, device width, or browser.

You're reading this announcement on the new Supertype, and notice how our notes (articles) are now more readable, with a special emphasis on legibility and readability.
